Advancing Peace Through Research and Dialogue in Somalia

The Somali Peace Research Institute (SPRI) is an independent, non-profit, and non-partisan research institute dedicated to advancing peace, inclusive governance, and sustainable development in Somalia. Established to respond to the country’s complex and evolving challenges, SPRI works to generate credible evidence, promote informed dialogue, and support policy processes that contribute to long-term stability.

Somalia’s peace and state-building journey has been shaped by decades of conflict, political transition, humanitarian crises, and environmental shocks. While significant progress has been made, persistent challenges remain in areas such as governance, security, social cohesion, and institutional legitimacy. These challenges require locally grounded analysis and policy solutions that are informed by Somali realities.

SPRI operates at the intersection of research, policy, and practice. Our work combines academic rigor with field-based insight to ensure that research findings are both credible and applicable. We produce research reports, policy briefs, and analytical papers that support decision-makers, civil society actors, and development partners in designing effective and inclusive interventions.

In addition to research, SPRI convenes dialogue forums and public discussions that bring together policymakers, scholars, community leaders, and youth. These platforms create space for constructive engagement, knowledge exchange, and consensus-building on critical national issues.

Through independence, integrity, and collaboration, SPRI remains committed to contributing to a peaceful, resilient, and inclusive Somalia.
