Youth represent the majority of Somalia’s population and are central to the country’s social, political, and economic future. Yet young people often face barriers to meaningful participation in peacebuilding and governance processes, including limited access to education, research opportunities, and decision-making spaces.
The Somali Peace Research Institute (SPRI) places youth engagement and capacity building at the core of its work. We believe that investing in youth knowledge and leadership is essential for building long-term peace and resilience.
SPRI supports youth through research training, mentorship programs, workshops, and dialogue platforms. These initiatives aim to strengthen analytical skills, critical thinking, ethical leadership, and practical understanding of peace and governance challenges. By engaging youth as researchers, contributors, and partners, we help amplify their voices in policy and public discourse.
Our approach recognizes youth not only as beneficiaries but as active agents of change. Empowered with knowledge and research skills, young people can contribute to inclusive solutions, promote social cohesion, and support accountable governance.
Sustainable peace requires long-term investment in people. By supporting youth knowledge, leadership, and participation, SPRI contributes to building a future generation capable of shaping a peaceful and prosperous Somalia.
